Embrace
I photograph people where their bodies often speak louder then anything else. This time look at this hug, or embrace as I called it. The young man’s muscles are tensed up - this is a genuine hug with passion (at least it looks like it to me). There is none of the too fashionable hug me but don’t touch me posers here.

Young man asleep on stairs
Many of my street photographs show homeless people in Sydney in various situations. However, this young man is not homeless. He is fast asleep courtesy of over indulgence the night before. He was in such deep sleep he almost did not show any vital signs and I had to check he was OK (which he was).

This is one of the hardest photographs I’ve taken for a long time. Not because this young man was not willing to be photographed but because he stared into the lens with unusual intensity.

These two unrelated people have one thing in common - they both have taken a moment for themselves. The young man reads his news on a bench of busy Pitt Street, while the girl is having a cigarette and the Pitt Street Mall. I would rather focus on her fashionable outfit but that cigarette spoiled the view for me. Pity that.
