Here is an example of “accidental” inspiration. My daughter has left her shoes outside of the balcony door after feeding our dogs this morning. Later in the afternoon as the sun started to shine through the shutters on that side of the house the shoes suddenly were lit by the line patterned light. If you find your mind having difficulty focusing on this image for some strange reason, do not worry about it. It is not your sight. The light pattern coming through the shutters is parallel but it is not parallel to the floor, where timber flooring with its own lines runs at an angle to the light strips. This is what makes the visual tricks with our eye’s focus.
A girl sunbaking in the city
by Ted Szukalski |Last few days brought a very hot weather to South East Australia, with temperatures in high 30C and low 40C all the way from Adelaide to Brisbane. Some people like the girl in the photograph like the heat and one could see a lot of people sitting in full sun at popular lunch location at Martin place.
Man at the Mecca Espresso Bar
by Ted Szukalski |In last few days we had unseasonal warm weather. Temperature in Sydney reached 24C. This is middle of Australian winter.
People are really enjoying this weather and all outdoor lunch places are full of business people taking a break from the office.
This street photograph of a man having lunch at very popular Mecca Espresso Bar was taking in very harsh midday light thus it has very dramatic contrast between his figure brightly lit by the sun and everything else which falls in the shadows.
Sunrise over a fog embraced bush
by Ted Szukalski |It has been a while since I have posted any landscape photographs. An opportunity arrived this morning in the form of a dense fog and me having to drive my wife to work. The fog seemed impenetrable through the window, and in conditions like that photographs usually do not come out.
By the time I dropped off my wife the fog has receded a bit. Actually it lifted almost completely within 15minutes. It only hold up in the valley. Unfortunately for me there is not many vantage points in this valley to take broad view landscape. Except over the little field near a local football oval. And this is exactly where this photograph was taken.

Man asleep in the city
by Ted Szukalski |This autumn has been particularly mild. The evenings are starting to be chilly but the days have given us a very pleasant 22plus degrees. The nice weather allows for time in the sun during lunches in Sydney CBD. This man sleeping in the warn sun rays in the Martin Place is a perfect example of how nice the weather is.
