No, this is no stairway to heaven – just an access to the ocean during sunrise. Photographed at a very low angle and watching the coming tide very carefully (OK, I did get wet – shoes and all). I just liked the richness of the textures in the protruding through the water rocks and the golden glow of the raising sun.
Skillion and the sea
by Ted Szukalski |Another beautiful morning at Terrigal. This time I’d like to present a fairly high contrast black and white landscape focusing on the sea and the rocks in front of the Skillion.
Rocks – long exposure
by Ted Szukalski |Long exposure is often used in water photography to show the water movement. Too long and the water looks like plastic coating. Not long enough and the effect is totally lost on the viewer. In this photograph I wanted to create an effect where the rocks would be very solid and the water would be turned into cloud like mist. This is a bit more tricky than a simple long exposure. I have used the waves to create the effect but photographing not only using the long exposure setting but also exposing the same photograph many times and blending it together in software. This photograph is a composite of 7 individual photos.
Micah – photo shoot
by Ted Szukalski |I have taken a set of photographs of Micah mid December at the base of Skillion at Terrigal. I thought we did quite well considering the photographs were done ad-hoc. Here is a little YouTube video with some music (The song is by German band Liquido and was obtained from Synthopia, where you can find lots of very good, free music) to match.
You can see all of the photographs used in the video at better quality in Micah gallery
Terrigal Sunrise
by Ted Szukalski |This colourful photograph from Terrigal was actually taken after sunrise, when the sun hid behind the clouds spraying its rays through the clouds. The foreground rocks you can see are at Skillion.
