Little Beach colours and shapes MG_5969

I have visited my friend Chris last night. Over some very good spaghetti and a glass of red wine we had a look through his photographs from his last Western Australian adventure. He, and his partner Margaret travel a lot and take some very beautiful landscapes.

Inspired somehow by their colourful show I went this morning with my family to a near by Little Beach. The weather was nice and the slightly overcast sky provided for some very vivid images. As usual there is a lot of sandstone formations, which I really like to photograph. There are rock patterns and a lot of vivid colour. Please visit my Little Beach photographic Gallery.

Fishermen

Fishermen

Here is another view of the morning rock fishing. The photograph took a while to set up. The key here was to get the silhouettes of the fishermen in the background and beautiful textures and shades of rocks and water in the foreground. It took me 4 or 5 shots before I could balance the light properly. As you can see from the top right corner the sun was still low but quite strong.

Information for photographers: if you are confused by the effect not matching the exposure data: I have used ND8 filter for this capture.

Sandstone puzzle

We went for a short walk along the ocean today. It is no big secret that I like rock faces and formations. While I was looking for some interesting textures and colours I have noticed this sandstone puzzle at my feet. I thought it was rather interesting composition of sandstone pieces - lots of complimentary lines and curves. It looked to more to me as human designed mosaic then a random mother nature rock crack.

Echo Point in cloud cover MG_9403

This is a scene from Echo Point at Katoomba. The gate visible on the left hand side of the rock wall leads to the Three Sisters track. The mist you see in the photograph is not fog, it is clouds. Yes, whole Echo Point was submerged in a dense cloud in the middle of a day.
