Entertainment is a serious business

I took this photograph of a masked, mystery performer during NSW Public Schools promotion. These young kids certainly had a serious approach to their performances. Entertainment is all about success. Once again, the kids and teachers put up an excellent shows, full of colour and movement.

NSW Public Schools Performances

Public Schools Promotion MG_7433

NSW Public School performances seem to be an annual event, where kids show of their entertainment skills. And I am talking real entertainment. Colourful, well choreographed shows with smiling kids in exceptionally clever outfits.

Although I cannot match the school names to the performances, today’s show at Martin Place involved:

  • Menai High School
  • Balgowlah Heights Public School
  • Caringbah High School
  • North Sydney Boys High School
  • Macarthur Girls High School
  • Crestwood Public School
  • Caringbah and North Sydney Boys High Schools
  • Conservatorium High School
  • Talent Development Program Vocal Soloist

Well done kids (and teachers).
PS: Are you afraid of clowns?

Interview

Interview

Interview

I watched this television crew conducting random interviews with member of the public in Pitt Street Mall. The interviewer seemed to be a very passionate and animated character and somehow I think he overwhelmed the interviewees with his antics.

Child’s play

Child's play

Child’s play

Children photography is under intense scrutiny from the public and law makers in Australia. A well known photographer Bill Henson is being investigated over his nude photography of adolescent children. Police has confiscated many of his works from a number of galleries.

My understating is none of the photos contained sexual scenes and thus, I am a bit puzzled why the word pornography is used to describe them. Everyone from a suburban house wife, who has never been to art gallery to Prime Minister of Australia, who expresses views as if he never visited a gallery either, seem to have only negative comments on Bill Henson’s photographs.

What next, in this politically correct word? Will the mob take to hammers and smash down all statues of naked people (statue of David anyone?) and erase the endless number of naked bodies from classic paintings starting perhaps with Sistine Chapel?

I hope before this happens you will have time to enjoy this playful child chasing after a colourful bubble under a watchful eye of his mum.
