OK, the only reason I could call this photograph the Drummer and 4 Dementors is the distance to the “Dementors” and the fact they are not recognisable in the photograph.
In stark contrast to the drummer, who is crossing the road with his head high up, energised, caring his drum with a clearly visible purpose the four youths in the background are, like the Dementors, lifeless. All dressed in black, heads down and drugging their feet they seem to lack a purpose and direction. Sadly, an image too many young people seem to project.
I must admit, recently, I have been struggling to keep the blog regularly updated. Being preoccupied with a important project at work I have put photography on a second plane but today the weather was very nice and good walk was long overdue. It felt like summer and lots of people took advantage of the nice conditions. This photograph shows a busy crossing of George and Park Streets near Sydney Town Hall.
In recent days I have posted less street photos I have been busier then usual at work. Additionally, with a lot of places undergoing rebuilds and refubrishments many of spots that were ideal for people photography are now empty, inaccessible or simply construction zones. Sydney at the moment is quite a visual mess. I hope when all this development activities complete we will have more of interesting and nice places.
I have tried to move of my own free will in densely packed crowd.
Are you stronger in the crowd or are you reduced to a single gear in a big machine?
“Who can Resist the Pull of the Crowd?”
While I was listening to the classical guitar player I have noticed a colourful and intriguing pair of young people. They both had coloured hair and seemed interested in the music of the busker too. I have approached them and asked if I could take their photograph. They introduced themselves as Chris and Tracey and actually really liked the idea. Thanks guys – you were fantastic.
