Girl in a tribal outfit MG_9654
Winter magic festival is an annual event held at Katoomba to celebrate winter solstice. It is one big cultural event attracting people of all sorts. Dressing up is big on the agenda and thus it is a photographer’s paradise. There are bands, dancers, drummers, lots of firemen and representatives of almost all alternative lifestyles you can think of.

Echo Point in cloud cover MG_9403
This is a scene from Echo Point at Katoomba. The gate visible on the left hand side of the rock wall leads to the Three Sisters track. The mist you see in the photograph is not fog, it is clouds. Yes, whole Echo Point was submerged in a dense cloud in the middle of a day.

Three Sisters in clouds MG_9395
There is no visit to Blue Mountains without a quick look over the Three Sisters in Katoomba from the Echo Point. However, you may be in for a surprise similar to what we have experienced: you may arrive there to see it but being able to see it is another story. A thick, low laying cloud cover totally obscured the famous Three Sisters. Actually, one could hardly see anything at all at Echo Point. The cloud cover subsided slightly for few seconds allowing me to take this very moody and almost mysterious photograph of Three Sisters.

Mr Pickwick
Katoomba is the main tourist town in the Blue Mountains, about an hour drive west from Sydney. You can get great views of the famous Three Sisters from Echo Point . There is abundance of bush walks for almost any level of fitness. For the shopping oriented tourist the antique shops are quite well known.
One of the best known antique shops is called Mr. Pickwick’s. You can find there anything from old books, silverware and china to toys and clothing. The antiquity of the items varies quite a lot, with items ranging from few days old to 150 years.
The shop has an aura of late 19th century including the salesman , who looks right for the part. He was kind enough to pose for this photographic portrait .
