You may have read in the recent newspapers that Juan Mann of the “Free Hugs” fame is offering one of his kidneys. I had a long conversation about this with him today. I am not so certain that a healthy young man should give his kidney away. It is one thing to be on donors list and another to remove an organ for no other reason than charity. Juan naturally holds a very different view and he will be producing a documentary on the subject. He was telling me how vastly different the initial reaction to his offering are: from well wishers to “go and die since you don’t care for your life” all in one day.

Juan Mann is still enthused but I found him today scratching his head a bit, wondering where are all the people wanting his Free Hugs. It wasn’t long before people started to come up to him. The campaign always raises an eyebrow or two – Juan, it must be your generosity – charge them at least 5c so they know there is a value to a Free Hug.

Today I’ve come across Juan Mann again. The man whose fame on YouTube is ever growing for giving out free hugs. Judging from the reaction of the girls in the photographs the hugs work very well.
