Recently, one of the daily papers run a poll on the subject of the “public display of affection“. Interestingly it was not if manifestation of affection in public was appropriate but if it was only reserved for celebrities. Oh, please.
I see expressions of love all over the streets of Sydney. A kiss here or there, a hug, holding hands and often these glowing love eyes. It is perfectly normal and common. It has nothing to do with what your society status is or if you are celebrity or not. Just look at the young couple in this photograph. The young man carried his cheeky girlfriend through a whole city block. She seemed to be ecstatic and certainly joyful.
After a week of high fashion and excitement from catwalk straight back to everyday, “ordinary” life. Here, a playful couple embracing each other on the grass.
An interesting foyer in one of the city buildings, with many reflecting surfaces and lights. Steps leading up draw the attention to a coupe of people exchanging a warm greeting.
How long should a hug last? Well, according to this couple it was worth utilising the duration of red light at pedestrian crossing for good, long hug.
I photograph people where their bodies often speak louder then anything else. This time look at this hug, or embrace as I called it. The young man’s muscles are tensed up – this is a genuine hug with passion (at least it looks like it to me). There is none of the too fashionable hug me but don’t touch me posers here.
