The Skillion
I seldom photograph landscapes with showing them in black and white. Today however I tried exactly that. So, here is the photograph of the Skillion at Terrigal photographed in HDR (three blended exposures) and converted to black and white.

Cliff
I thought this photograph of a cliff in Terrigal exhibits particular 3D characteristics. This photograph was taken with Canon Ef 24-70mm F/2.8 lens. It a HDR image made from 3 exposures.

Sunday sunrise
Here is another Sunday sunrise from Terrigal. This photograph is a blend of three exposures - so called HDR (High Dynamic Range) technique.

Sunrise for Mrs.R MG_2412
Recently I have been talking to Mrs. R, my mother-in-law, who suggested I should shoot more sunrises. Apparently most people photograph sunsets, as they occur at a civilised hour, but sunrises few as they require a different category of the photographer (stubborn as I am I guess) and since I am an early riser I should take advantage of that.
So, Mrs. R here is a vibrant, rich sunrise just for you.

Country Road MG_2308
This country road beyond an old timber bridge has been tempting me for a long time. I have taken literally dozens of photos from this point and yet I’ve never been satisfied with the resulting photograph. The attraction of this scene is quite obvious with the tree canopy creating a tunnel over simple road. Few tree trunks add strong character and the road signs define a border between here and “there”.

The Skillion, Terrigal, NSW, Central Coast, Australia_MG_2210_1_2_hdr.jpg
Photo: The Skillion, Terrigal, NSW, Central Coast, Australia
This photograph has been created with the Canon EF-s 10-22 F/3.4-4.5 Ultra Wide Zoom, Hoya ND8 filter and 2EV spaced exposure bracketing. 3 separate images were combined together using Photomatix Pro to achieve the High Dynamic Range effect. In my tone mapping procedure I’ve tried to achieve a natural result, something that many HDR images lack. I have take three other photographs using the same technique:

Morning has broken
A morning, foggy scene of a field road. The whole scene was soaked in early morning sun rays and surrounded in a bit of magic courtesy of gentle fog.
This was a very difficult scene to photograph. The strong sun light coming through the top right corner generated interesting rays cutting through the morning fog and steam from the bushes. I have again used a HDR (high dynamic range) technique to render this image. In this case it allows of showing of the whole range of greens from very dark to very bright and at the same time not loosing any details to clipping (when colours combine to a single colour spot)
