No, this is no stairway to heaven – just an access to the ocean during sunrise. Photographed at a very low angle and watching the coming tide very carefully (OK, I did get wet – shoes and all). I just liked the richness of the textures in the protruding through the water rocks and the golden glow of the raising sun.
Sydney Welcomes Home Olympic Athletes
by Ted Szukalski |Australian Olympic Team Ticker-tape Parade held today in Sydney was a big success. Thousands of well-wishers welcomed the Olympians, who performed so well during the Beijing 2008 Olympics.
Looking at the moved face of pole vaulter, Steven Hooker I think walking down George Street was as moving and unforgettable experience for him as standing on the dais in Beijing accepting his gold medal.
The mint
by Ted Szukalski |Built between 1811 and 1816 as the southern end of the Sydney Hospital it became a mint in 1854 when gold was discovered in New South Wales. It was the first Royal Mint outside of England. It operated as mint until 1926.
Today it is an interesting museum and the building itself is part of Historic Trust.
All that glitters is gold
by Ted Szukalski |I wonder if this lady looking at a jewelry shop window realises the price of gold has hit all time high of AUD $1061 per ounce. The bad news is that some analysts are predicting that gold will double its value to over $2000 in not too distant future.
