Our Golden Retriever puppies are now two weeks old. They are growing very fast and are in excellent health. At two weeks a major development for puppies is the opening of the eyes and first very clumsy steps. The puppies are strong enough to explore space around them within 1 meter.
Mind you getting so far from the pack and mum means major drama, and once they realise they are too far major alarms are given – lots of puppy squealing. Some of them try to bark already and the biggest pups even mastered a form of growling.
They are so incredibly cute it is hard to leave them alone. I think their adorable looks and behaviours justify well the term “puppy love”.
At 5 days old our golden retriever puppies are starting to grow very quickly. For this photograph I have gently inserted a sleeping puppy into a 1 liter stein glass, which as you can see is already too small length wise. We can also see the puppies already have an alpha male and female. They are the biggest and strongest. First to suckle and strong enough to push their siblings away if they think another nipple is better for them. more …
Our golden retriever puppies are now three days old and it seems at least one of them has a name, or perhaps more precisely a nickname. The gorgeous puppy you see on this photograph is called by my daughter “Albi”, short for albino” as he is the whitest of all the puppies. Albi, the golden retriever puppy also happens to be the biggest of the seven and looks like he will grow to be a dominant one. more …

Today is their second day of life and mum golden retriever “Buttercup” was much more at ease with us handling them and posing for the photographs. She still supervised from a very close distance and made enough noises to tell us we should be very careful with her puppies. more …
Our golden retriever “Buttercup” has given birth to healthy and very adorable seven Golden Retriever puppies. I have set up a space to photograph them and both my wife and daughter set the puppies up very quickly. Everything was perfect. Lots of lights, We placed nice, warm red, contrasty blanket for the puppies both as the base and background. As I was to press the shutter release the “mum” had to make sure they are alright and stuck her head right through the blanket. more …
