Dog on a bicycle

Well we all know man’s best friend is a dog, but who is dog’s best friend. Turns out is a man with a bicycle and a bit of imagination. In this case a bicycle with a platform for the dog.

Golden Retriever puppy - Gucio

I got an early father’s day present this year - a 12 week old golden retriever boy puppy, which I called Gucio.

You may not realise but one of my most popular photographs in this gallery with 1000s of views every week is that of a girl golden retriever we got last year called Buttercup.

Just the two of us

Just the two of us

Just the two of us

Here is a small scene from a park: a men and his dog - beautifully groomed golden retriever.

We have two golden retrievers but they are quite different in nature to the one in
photograph. Younger one is a girl of 10 months and she is so mischievous we repeat her
name so often that our parrot has learnt to call her too.

In the news - homeless and his dog

Homeless and his dog

Homeless and his dog

It seems the news is never good when you are homeless and even your dog can feel the times are tough.

This homeless man is well known to any person who regularly visits the Pitt Street Mall. He is always there with his newspaper and his dog. I think the dog wins him a lot of symphaty as many people stop to say hello and donate a coin or two.

Golden Retriever - Portrait

Our golden retriever dog does not need a lot to achieve happiness: take him to the beach where he can swim and fetch a stick and he is seven heaven.

This photo was taken at effective 400mm as I was testing a 2x teleconverter. The Autofocus system suffers a bit with this converter but the end results can be really outstanding given a bit of patience and practice.

It was the dog

It was the dog

It was the dog

This is a difficult photograph to add commentary to. In fact so difficult it took me 4 months before I decided to publish it.

A very pretty black girl with her obviously young puppy enjoying a walk with her friends. Another, equally attractive young, white lady passing them with an obvious gesture to the nose indicating: something stinks here.

Did the dog break wind or was it something else?

OK, some additional information: this photograph was taken in Brussels, Belgium July 2007, in front of a restaurant. I was slitted at their outdoor tables. The girl’s action (gesture) seemed deliberate as to say something stinks and it lasted for a while (few steps back and few steps after the photo was taken. It did not look like “I have an itch or a cold”.

Golden Retriever Puppy - Buttercup

Golden Retriever Puppy - Buttercup MG_1848

Here is the newest member of our family a Golden Retriever Puppy called Buttercup. She is currently close to 9 weeks old and as you can see from the photograph is working hard on the well known and deserved characteristic of the breed - placid, obedient and always trying to please the owner. The words sit, stay etc must be all gibberish to her at this time as no amount of persuasion or rewards would get her to pose for the camera.
