I watched this smartly dressed, attractive woman with some amusement. She was scratching her head in a very round way looking at the traffic and trying to time her best moment to cross the road. Mind you, a normal pedestrian crossing with traffic lights was just few meters away.

Every person I have tried to photograph today was busy on their mobile phone. Isn’t it strange that a generation ago a mobile phone was a sci-fi fantasy and now it is such a commonly used everyday item.

The rapidly advancing smart phones are also changing the the telecommunication device into a portable business, entertainment and information hub. Phones such as iPhone, Android and BlackBerry are still on an expensive side but I am sure the competition will bring these price down fairly soon.

What better way to start summer than with a spectacular, red sunrise.

The sunrise today was very strange. From dark yellow throughout the sky initially to these very colourful red and purple tones within a minute or two. And it was all gone few minutes later.

Lifesaver flags

As I was watching this morning lifesavers preparing for another beautiful day at the beach I could not help but notice sponsorship names on all their gear. The lifesavers in Australia are a volunteer based organisation and depend heavily on donations from mostly corporate sector. You can see the sponsor’s names on all flags, shirts, boats etc. I wonder how will they manage in those tough economic times, when mots organsations cut down on all spendings.

The calendar summer starts tomorrow and let’s hope it is joyful and safe for everyone. You can support life savers by donation.

I’m always fascinated by patterns occurring naturally. It could be shifting sand or rock erosion or as in this case human skin with pressure marks from clothing.

We had a very cold and windy morning today. Summer is only a week away yet the weather resembles winter more than anything else. Instead of clear, blue skies we had some very dramatic cloud covers like this one I photographed at Terrigal with a ship in a distance.
