I was passing this man in the Martin Place. He noticed my camera and said: “Sir, I hope you are not talking photos of me!”. Naturally I raised my camera and photographed his smiling face in a single move. I had no intention of keeping the photograph. I knew it probably was badly blurred due to motion and I did not expect it to be in focus. I kept on going as the man’s intention was simply to engage me in a conversation which led to some marketing.
When I uploaded all my street photographs from today’s walk I have noticed this man’s photo turned out to be quite a catch as his smiling and blurred face is nicely complemented by a smiling woman from a poster behind him. Definitely a keeper.
In last few days we had unseasonal warm weather. Temperature in Sydney reached 24C. This is middle of Australian winter.
People are really enjoying this weather and all outdoor lunch places are full of business people taking a break from the office.
This street photograph of a man having lunch at very popular Mecca Espresso Bar was taking in very harsh midday light thus it has very dramatic contrast between his figure brightly lit by the sun and everything else which falls in the shadows.
I have noticed on my last few walks this young man dancing at Pitt Street Mall. I am no expert on the names or genres of modern dances but his dancing resembled of break dancing. He moves well and has good control over his body. His slow motion moves are particularly noteworthy.
Taking a photograph of him dancing in context of city crowd is quite difficult as people tend to gather on one end of Pitt Street Mall while he is dancing on the opposite side. I have taken photographs of him from various angles and opted in the end for this street photograph showing him dancing as people watch him in passing.
