This was an interesting situation. I have spotted this couple having a conversation in Pitt Street Mall and I thought they looked interesting. The moment I put my camera to my eyes the man became immediately aware I am going to photograph them. Usually this spoils the shot but to my surprise he did not turn away or question my action, instead he posed with a nice smile.

I have photographed these two young men because there was something very theatrical in their poses. Even the hands do not clearly indicate if it is a hold or pushing away, keeping the viewer guessing.

This musician was playing in front of Queen Victoria Building. Now, I personally do not consider a mandolin as great contemporary instrument for self expression but this young man thought otherwise. Playing his mandolin music, as if it was the best of Gibson guitars he poured his heart into the performance.

There used to be a band called The Turtles, which had a hit “Happy Together”. A bit of of over optimistic and simplistic lyrics went like this:
Imagine me and you, I do
I think about you day and night, it’s only right
To think about the girl you love and hold her tight
So happy together
Can you think of anything more appropriate to accompany the photograph of these two young people?
