Doubtful Sound is an immense, imposing and fascinating fjord on New Zealand’s West Coast of the south island. Deep waters, reaching over 440m contain fresh water at the top layer and sea, salt water below. It is remote, still pristine and very memorable.

Low laying clouds surround near vertical sides of rocky mountains. All tree life has to establish itself on the surface of it as there is no soil as such. 7m yearly rain fall ensures everything is green, misty and mysterious.

You may see dolphins here or fur seals. No man made structures except for one fisherman’s hut.
