Peter Pan

Sebastian on garden steps

The photo title of Peter Pan came as a suggestion from a participant of a forum  I frequently visit. This photograph was captured using 2 halogen light sets, which created interesting shadow play and overall good lighting.

I have used Canon EF50mm F/1.4 lens. Having over 800W of light meant I could shoot without the tripod. Model: my son Sebastian.

Industrial lights

Michelle on garden steps

I have used a very cheap set of twin halogen lights for this photograph. Total cost: AUD $25 from a local hardware shop The lights output 2×250W and produced enough light for a relatively slow exposure at 1/25 of second but with a good light falloff for a dramatic picture.

This photo was taken using Canon EF 50mm F/1.4 lens, which really shines in these conditions. Model: my daughter Michelle.

Sandstone backdrop

Michelle at Pearl Beach

My daughter Michelle at our favourite beach. The access to the wild part of the beach leads through endless sandstone formations, which are fantastic to photograph by themselves or as a backdrop to a casual portrait like this.

Photograph taken with Canon 30D, Tokina 12-24 f/4 and Canon 580EX Speedlite.

Shark’s egg

Sebastian with shark' egg

My son, Sebastian, has found shark’s egg. They are very oddly shaped, looking like a very big twisted macaroni. This photograph has been taken at Pearl Beach late at night using Tokina 12-24 f/4 lens and Canon 580EX Speedlite.

Fresh look for Digital Photo website

I’ve reworked the website’s template to accommodate few new features. From the point of the viewer I am using now much bigger images on the home page to give a better representation for my photography. This was the most requested feature by many visitors to my photo blog.

Also there are some major visual changes such as fluid layout allowing for the page to stretch, depending on your monitor resolution. In addition there are some nice graphical touches to the album view. I hope you like the new look.

Children are Angels

Children are angels

This is an actual photograph, not a digital creation or composite image. For these interested in technique the trick here is a long exposure of 1/2 second with flash synchronised to second curtain. This means the whole view is exposed for the whole 1/2 second but the flash only fires as the exposure is being completed giving a ghostly appearance to the kid on the swing. The aperture controls how well exposed the elements will be and how much movement in lapsed time will be captured.

Photo created using Canon 30D, Tokina 12-24 F/4 lens and Canon 580EX Speedlite in E-TTL II mode.

Look to the right

Look Right

There are few stories in this single image. The obvious one is the interest of all three man in the girl on their right. Secondly there is the interest of the girl in the background in the men. Finally, why does the man in the suit on the left carry his shoes in the hand?
